[Solved] Changing the language

Hi,
I have been using Open Office in the Norwegian language for a long time. Recently, I thought of using the program in English. I tried using the option menu in tools. Nothing happened. I tried to install a fresh edition and checked for the English version. The whole installation process went on in English, but when I opened the program, I saw it was still the Norwegian version. At last, I tried to uninstall the Open Office program and get a new English one. You guessed right. Nothing happened. Still, all menus are in Norwegian!
Am I missing something? Does anybody know a way to do it?
Thanks in advance

I would suggest trying LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice. There are several good reasons for making the switch anyway, some of which are mentioned here:

Since a new installation doesn't affect your user interface, I suspect that your user profile has some problem. Try resetting it.
With OpenOffice shutdown, open any folder and type
%appdata%\OpenOffice\4
in the address bar. That will take you to a folder that contains a folder named user. Rename that to user_old and restart OpenOffice. You should get the registration screen. Fill that out, then check if your UI is in English or at least can be switched to English.
If that doesn't work, please explain exactly what settings you are changing under Tools -> Options to change the language.

Recently, I thought of using the program in English.
You can install an English
language pack in your existing Norwegian version so that you can switch the user interface between English and Norwegian. Or you can install a full English version of OpenOffice,
after removing your Norwegian version
and deleting your user profile. Removing an OpenOffice installation is an operating system task. I use MacOS and cannot help with removal or profile deletion procedures for Windows.
Change language for user interface (menus & help files)
If you install a
language pack for English you may also want to install a
spell checker for English and that requires an English dictionary. Dictionaries are provided as
extensions. If you install a full English version you won't need a English language pack or a dictionary extension.
Dictionary versus language pack
All OpenOffice dictionaries downloads seem to be broken
You could install a Norwegian language pack and Norwegian dictionary in your English version.
If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit ✏️ button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

Hi, I should thank you for your detailed response. I am going to start the process right away by installing an English language pack....And I will come back to this thread for necessary actions.

Unfortunately, none of the peaceful solutions presented here worked. So, I Used Revo Uninstaller. It uninstalled Open Office by Open Office's own uninstaller, so what Open Office wanted was kept safe on the PC. I asked Revo to scan for leftover files. It did, I removed them. Then I went with the Everything search engine and searched for everything. It produced a long list of Open Office files and documents. There were several zip files, which I included and deleted EVERYTHING. I even included links to shortcuts and any file that had 'Open Office' in it. restart and a fresh download, and eventually an English Open Office.
Thanks everybody
