Updated and lost all my content

Post by wwall4 »

Hello

I love Open Office, probably too much. But in using it for so many years, i've gotten lazy and complacent. I don't save my files anymore because even if my computer shuts down, all the files I was working on are restored. This time, they weren't. I think it was because of an update. Is there anyway to retrieve these? I think I had about ten OO windows open that I was sporadically working on. Are these lost?
Thank you for any help.

Always save your documents in the native file format of the editor software: .odt for Writer, .ods for Calc, etc...

You can try the user profile, there may be backups in the... backup folder, see [Tutorial] The OpenOffice user profile.

Else, recovery applications like PhotoRec could help but after 2 days, not very likely.
