[Solved] Lock page so changes above don't affect it

Post by jimakoskx »

Hello all

As i am new in writer ,,,ok,,i am learning some tricks but i dont know if my question has to do with text flow.
I dont want tables etc...
Is there an easy way to lock a page (have it ready and nice for printing)
so that changing some text above this page will not scrap my nice efforts to some 'ready' page?

Thank you in advance

Be careful with rejecting ideas which could help you. Features might work in ways which you haven't envisioned, and you might have eliminated the best (or only) solution, because no one will suggest it.

Perhaps Writer Guide: Working with Master Documents?

If you need any additional assistance attach a document demonstrating the situation (remove confidential information then use Post Reply, not Quick Reply, and don't attach a picture instead of the document itself). I will not help further unless you attach a Writer document.

Thank you .Tomorrow i will try to find some solution on pdf that you ve send me.

The last link youve post not opening (windows saying dangerous )
so i am posting just an image .
So my 2nd page is ready and i want to 'lock' it
in order that any changes i will do in 1st page will not affect my 2nd page.

You can protect a text section against editing.

You could also use a text frame. You could make one the size of a page. If you anchor a text frame to a page then changes to the other contents won't affect it.

Not quite sure what you mean, but if you insert a page break (press Ctrl+Enter) before or at the start of a page that you want to protect, changes in the preceding pages will not wrap into your ready page.
Note: it's not a good idea to start finetuning the formatting of your document before you are sure that it's the best thing you can do. As long as you can still improve it, don't bother making it look prettier.

floris Cntr+Enter indeed does the work i ask.
(meaning that if i change something above a "ready" page then just pushing the ready page one page after(instead some lines after)
and thus ...giving me 'space' to work in my previus page etc)

JeJe ...thank you (too and all) for your answers.

floris PS..You are right but i just have to finish a big ~20 pages work for court...so my priority now is just to finish it!

Thank you AaaaaaaaLL..(I will come back in 1-2 days to 'solve it' in case someone else wants to add any)
