Hello! I'm new here. I have a MacAir 2020 with the M1 chip and Sequoia 15.5. I have not tried to download the Open Office yet because I wanted to ask if it will be compatible with my system.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Since your machine is from 2020 and the latest version from end 2023 with no major changes in ages, it is a safe bet to consider it is compatible.
Just try and see...

You may try LibreOffice that is under much more active development than AOO.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the button if your issue has been fixed.

Thank you for your help. I decided to download LibreOffice and was able to do so without any problems. I opened it, but have not actually used it, so we shall see. Thanks again for your help

Open Office works on Mac M1 and Sequoia, but only the parts that don't use Java as a Base.
I haven't been able to find an accepted Java version yet.

It works with this version, thank you very much.
I'm sharing this so it can be useful to other macOS users with an M1 processor or later.

(In Libre Office it was already working before.)
