I install Open Office according to the directions. When I click on a short cut that I made with windows nothing happens. This also happens when I click on the desktop icon and Open Office doesn't open. So what am I missing?

You may have a hung OpenOffice process. The easiest solution is to reboot. If you don't want to do that, open the Task Manager and look for soffice processes on the Details tab. Kill any that are there. I'm on Windows 10 and I hope those instructions still apply to Windows 11.

As you're on Windows 11 you would be well advised to switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice. There are several good reasons for making the switch, some of which are mentioned here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information

I would love to, however, I have a checkbook register and when i use LibreOffice, it calculate everything correctly up to the about the 75th line. After that it states #Value. Get rid of that and I will do it.

Start a forum post on this issue and others will provide help in solving it.

I am an outright novice at using Calc myself but had this exact same problem a couple of weeks ago and I managed to solve it after a couple of hours of searching on the web. Can't remember what I did though, so can't help directly.

Check for data types /View /Value highlighting and look to see if there is a transition in data type about line 75.
