[Solved] Eliminate unwanted keys in sort dialog

Post by John_Ha »

I have been using LO to sort a file a lot recently. Sort suddenly started to produce the wrong order and it took me a while to realise that LO was offering me eight Sort Keys instead of the usual three in the popup window, with Sort Keys 6, 7 and 8 displayed - see image below. I didn't spot this and I entered my sort criteria on the keys I was offered in the popup. As there were pre-populated keys from previous sorts which were hidden in the pop up, but active in the sort, it was no wonder the sort did not produce the results I expected!

How can I remove Sort Keys 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 from the Sort popup window so I only have the first three sort keys? I tried closing the file and reopening it but it did not get rid of the extra keys.

Re: Getting rid of multiple sort keys in popup sort window

Don't you hate it when you answer your own question?

Closing the file does not get rid of the extra keys if they have been set to values. Set them to Undefined and close the file and only three are offered when the file is reopened.

I also spotted that if Sort Key 1 is set, sort Key 2 is available and Sort Key 3 is greyed out. ie only the next Sort Key is available until it is used, when the next becomes available.
