I have tried to download OpenOffice 4.1.15 three times to my Windows 11 Pro machine and it failed all three times. It indicates the application may harm my machine. I assume big brother MS does not want open software on their OS. I have this same software on two Windows 10 machines and it downloaded just fine. I also assume there is a setting in Windows 11 Pro somewhere causing this. Can anyone help me?

It sounds like OpenOffice is being downloaded but then blocked when you try to install it. Is that correct? What is the exact text of the message you get?

By the way, OpenOffice is available from the Microsoft store. I search for
Micorsoft store Open Office windows 11
and got the link. Getting it there should get you through any Microsoft security filters.

Last Feb, I had to do it 10 times before it finally worked correctly. The down loader has some problem. Keep plugging away!

Thanks for the reply. I will try getting it through the MS store.

If one has a problem downloading, it may be a connection problem through one's ISP. Try instead to find a Torrent download, which will piece together a complete file from an intermittent connection.

Is it showing you a screen saying: This PC is protected (or something like that?)
There should be a link called More information in that screen.
If you click that you will be able to install, overriding the warning from MS

I tried downloading again from the OpenOffice website. The exact warning message I received in my Downloads folder was "Apache OpenOffice 4.1.15 Win_x86_install-en-US.exe was blocked because this type of file can harm your device". However, the download WAS NOT blocked as there was a 139mb file there. I clicked on it and it unpacked and installed as normal. The app works fine. Don't understand why the message said it was blocked. I guess it was just MS attempt to convince me to buy Office 365. Thanks for everyone's advice, but my problem seems to be solved.
