Copy/paste requires two attempts

Hi

I've recently noticed that when I'm copying slides in impress, I have to copy/paste twice for it to work. The same is true for cut/paste, where the first cut removes the slides and (after undoing the cut) I can cut/paste as normal. This behavior doesn't seem to apply to other libreoffice components, like calc.

I've used impress for a long time, and this behavior is new after an update. I'm currently running 24.2.7.2 on gentoo linux with an xfce desktop.

This is really frustrating, and I'd be gratful for any advice!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Works fine for me with LO 24.8 on my Windows 10 machine. Will check later at home on my LMDE machine. But I don't remember seeing that ever.
Is it the copy action or the paste action that you need to perform twice?
Since it works fine in other components, I get that it's not a problem with the keyboard.
Just by curiosity, does it work well with the context menu?

Not sure whether this applies to your platform at all, but I have seen similar behavior when interacting with Microsoft Office applications (which to some degree maintain a clipboard/temporary storage region separate from the system clipboard).

So, it occurred to me:
- Do you have some extra "clipboard manager" type app installed, aside of the system clipboard?

I remember now indeed such issues but it was under Windows.
I've been using XFCE for years until a recent switch to LMDE (Cinnamon) and I never saw that (with no tweaking of the clipboard feature). But maybe OP has installed an additional app for clipboard management.

I haven't ever installed additional clipboard managers, and as far as I can tell xfce doesn't do anything fancy with clipboard management.

It's the copy action that needs to be performed twice. Tonight, I've been doing copy-copy-paste and copy-cut-paste, and that kind of works. The context menu seems to work the same way. I'm also seeing that when I copy or cut an object (like a text box), it turns it into an image. That really limits my ability to edit slides.

I've been using the browser, a basic text editor, and a terminal all night, and libreoffice seems to be the only application that's affected.

LibreOffice 24.2.7.2 on gentoo linux
Specify the version used: that is Linux repositories or Snap package

This is version 24.2.7.2 in the gentoo linux repository. Last night rolled back to 24.2.6.2, and that also has the same problem.

I just tried on Cinnamon (LMDE Faye) and no issue with LO 24.8 from the TDF debs.
