Issues with Excel
I have used Oo 4.1.15 for while and it's an awesome group of programs,
For the first time in a while I am trying to edit an Excel spread sheet for PC game.
I do a few simple edits and try to save the file. I tells me I need JRE, so i download JRE and install it
Then the program tells me must go into security and allow Macros which i do.
Every time I start to open the excel file i get a Recovery message, I let it recover.
None of my changes were saved. Over and over I repeat this process and nothing changes.
The files show "date Modified" = Last month
I am saving the file to Excel 5.
Something is wrong
What must I do?

Re: Issues with Excel
When you get the Recovery dialogue just click the Cancel button and see if that helps.
As for working with 'Excel' you would be best advised to switch from using OpenOffice to LibreOffice. There are several good reasons for making the switch, some of which are mentioned here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information

Re: Issues with Excel
Are you able to save the edited version of the file in OpenOffice's default format? That is listed as ODF Spreadsheet (.ods) in the Save dialog.

Re: Issues with Excel
Note that if you try to edit files with MS Office macros, they won't work because the language is not the same.
If you need to work in MS Office file format, then stick to MS Office, that's vendor lock-in policy. Else, you'll have to convert all the macros in the AOO Basic language.
