[Solved] Color of font changes

When I open a Word 97-2003-document it looks alright, but when I change the font the text turn magenta...
If I highlite the text to change color to black, it doesn't work... What to do?

Do you have the menu items Edit -> Changes -> Show and Edit -> Changes -> Record turned on? The Show option would cause new text to appear in a different color.
