By "Sparse tab fill" I mean a pattern with an arbitrary amount of space between the fill glyph.

Like this:  #    #    #    #    #    #    #    22
instead of: ###############################    22

(I am using "#" here for greater contrast, since dots are small & can be hard to see.)
My memory is terrible & I may be under a delusion that the pattern can be set up to work automatically with the text on each line, " Like this" in the example, varying in length from line to line all lines being managed by judicious tab format.
I have searched the board but haven't found any post along this line.
What would be a good search string to use?

Format menu/character/postion tab/Spacing combo, choose expanded.

Edit: you can make a character syle with that setting to apply to your text.

You can put a space between each dot and justify the paragraph which will automatically expand the spaces to fill the line. You don't want the 22 to justify so you could use a drawing textbox for that text anchored as a character at the end of the paragraph. Or you could use a table with 2 separate cells. And use non-breaking spaces if the 22 bit is to contain spaces so those won't get expanded.

Edit: actually non-breaking spaces expand as well so you could use an underscore or some other visible character but make the text white so it can't be seen.
