[Solved] Table is greyed out

In a new document in Writer, I am trying to add a table. I choose the size and insert the table, but the entire table is grey.

I can technically click in a cell and type, but I can't see what I'm typing.
Changing the table/cell background colours does nothing, they remain grey.
Changing the font colour does nothing, it remains grey.
Changing the AutoFormat of the table to a set colour scheme also does nothing. Still grey.
I have also checked that field shading is turned off and have gone into Appearance Options to uncheck all shading/filling options.

The entire table remains grey, but when I go to page preview it shows any typed text and in my chosen colours/formatting.

I have never had this problem before, and this is a new/blank document I am creating.
I currently use 4.1.14 but this problem started in a previous version, so I updated to try and fix the problem but it's still the same.

Any advice on why it's grey and suggestions on how to fix this is much appreciated...

Go to Tools | Options | OpenOffice Writer | View and ensure Tables is selected under Display.

If no change, please upload a sample file (see: How to attach a document here).
Don't remember having seen such a problem (if it's not the display setting).

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

Thank you robleyd

I feel stupid that it was something so simple. I can't think why this option was unselected, certainly not something I would have done intentionally.

In changing Options in Tools, I think I focused more on the options under Tables, rather than under Display. I can't believe I missed this. Thanks again :)
