[Solved] Resize image in comment
I am new (again), tried the various Offices before then left for Excel. I am back again to see if any of the Office versions are more user friendly to comments in Calc cells. Haven't found it yet. And I am still not sure how to start a new topic (sorry). So, all I want to do is to insert a picture into a comment in Calc. Which I can do. But it is too big or too small. I am assuming I can drag to resize with the mouse, but this is not working out. The picture ends up either too wide or too tall. Tried the shift key before dragging. This does more proportionally but when I let go of the shift and mouse, it is either too wide or too tall but not as much. So figured I would ask if such a thing is doable. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Near the top of the page on the index of each sub-forum is a red button labelled, strangely, New Topic. You might also find it useful to read the Survival Guide, if you haven't already done so.I am still not sure how to start a new topic
Slackware 15 (current) 64 bit
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16
LibreOffice 26.2.2.2; SlackBuild for 26.2.2 by Eric Hameleers

I hate this damn computer, I wish that I could sell it.
It won't do what I want it to, Only what I tell it.

Re: Resizing images in comments
That's a strange thing. I actually never had an idea of a need or knew somebody having a related idea, or somebody asking in a forum... how to put an image into an annotation (aka "comment") to a Calc cell.
So I needed to get to the fundaments.
0. The visible annotation object is a shape. It only knows reduced and simple text services, and it doesn't accept an inserted image (which would factually reside in a nested shape).
1. Therefore you can't insert an image into an annotation.
2. If you are editing the annotation, you get, however, offered the menu path >Insert>Image. How to understand?
3. The menu path is misleading. In fact you can't insert the image, but only import it as the graphic assigned to the .Area of the annotation's shape.
4. To adapt size and position (or the tile mode e.g.) you need to use the 'Area' dialog
Y. Don't forget that an annotation needs to contain at least one character of text (may be a space). Otherwise it's automatically removed on Quit Edit.
Z. You never can "insert" a second image into a shapes area.

Re: Resizing images in comments
Always use optimized images for the Open/LibreOffice. "Optimizing" means here: Crop, resize, resample a picture, and set the color depth and the file format of the image BEFORE you insert it, or import it into a document. The Open/LibreOffice is NOT a pixelgraphic editor. Use third party softwares for this task.
