The LO can create a Backup copy when you save the file manually (The screenshot is from LO 6.4.7):

There is no such feature as autosave (I mean a feature that will save the file periodically for you).
See: [Solved] AutoSave v AutoRecovery.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

When in doubt, or paused, or with nothing else to do in a file, press Ctrl S to Save a file. Also install and use the Timed/Dated backup utility, download from
http://flowcont.hu/LO_oxt_store/oxt/tim ... v1-2-2.oxt

Note that this does not replace the normal Save mechanism - it must be separately invoked, either from its toolbar icon or its entry on /File menu.
