[Solved] What is "Formatted Display"?

Hello,
I can see a check box, at the bottom of the Calc screen, that says "Formatted Display" or, in Italian, "Visualizzazione Formattata", but if I check the box of this item, nothing seems to happen.
I would expect some kind of change in the way the text or numbers are displayed, or in the way the menus or the frames are displayed. But I cannot see any change whatsoever-
I did some research on the various documentation online, and even on this forum, but I could find nothing about it.
Has anyone got any information about this?

My interpretation:
Same date wih different format:
2022-12-21
2022. december 21.

When you format a date with textual month name, the word "december" will be found by the Search feature - if the option is ON.

• Formatted display – searches for cell contents in a particular format

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit ☐ button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

If the option remains unchecked, you've got to use the format that is displayed in the formula bar, for instance:
22/12/2022
12/22/2022 (US locale)
1234.98 (locale with decimal point)
1234,98 (comma locale)

The option does not affect text (unless you define formats with @).
