[Solved] Java and bullet points

Post by Bluecat34 »

Edit: Split from Select English UK for spell checking, etc. because you have a different problem so you need your own topic. If you had the same problem you could use the same solution. Please do not post in another's topic unless you are helping to solve their problem for them.

Wishing to use bullet points, I downloaded Java restarted open office then pressed the F5 Key. I looked for bullet points and got a message saying download Java.

I want a way forward, please.

Sorry but I don't see the link with Java. Can you upload the screenshot of your error message?

I can't reproduce the problem from your description. I disabled Java then pressed F5 which opened the Navigator. There's nothing in the Navigator related to bullet points and I didn't get any message about Java. What did you do after pressing F5 that produced the Java message?

Thank you for responding. I believe the issue stems from Java and will post a new topic.

Java 4.1.12

Hello everyone,

I downloaded Java to augment the Open office writer's help section when prompted. However, nothing happens when I download Java.

I look forward to your responses.

With respect to getting Java: The Java version you need to install is the the 32-bit version — the version of Java needs to match the bit-ness of OpenOffice and OpenOffice is 32-bit.

You can get a 32-Java here: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Download the version that is titled "Windows Offline" (do not download the version that is titled "Windows Offline (64-bit").

Once you have it downloaded install it to your system and point OpenOffice to the installation by going (menu) Tools → Options... → OpenOffice → Java Use the Add... button to supply the path to the 32-bit Java installation.

Does doing the above solve your issue? If it does report back here. If it doesn't report back here and maybe someone else will be able to solve your problem.
LibreOffice 25.8.1.1 (x64) installed to Windows 11 Pro. 25H2
Apache OpenOffice Portable 4.1.15 [Portable Apps]
For Java I use Adoptium Temurin JRE LTS Releases.
