Formatting from varying lists

I am not exactly how to proceed with this.

I have a form I am working on. Part of the form is simply a list of items.

At the top of the form is a pull-down tab listing several categories.

What I want to do is have certain items on the list change to bold depending on which category has been selected.

I am at a bit of a loss and any help would be appreciated. I believe that this would be a form of conditional formatting, but I can't wrap my brain around how to make it function.

Thanks

Can you upload an ODF type sample file here?

Okay, here we go....

What I most often use Calc for is my gaming activities, be these Role-playing games, Table Top Wargames, or what have you. What I am working on here is an automatic character sheet for the old RPG, Cyberpunk 2020.

So, I have uploaded the entire sheet I have so far, since that would be easier than copying it into a different document.

Briefly, there are a certain number of classes or Roles that a character can be. Each of those Roles has 9-10 skills that form the core of that Role.

Near the top of the first sheet is a pull-down to select the character's chosen Role. What I want to do is have the Core Skills (as listed on the first sheet) highlighted as bold when the Role is set. This is to help with the allocation of points for skills.

Nearly all calculations are done on the Calculations page. For each such calculation, I enclose the section in a tinted box when I feel that it is finished. Cyan boxes are where derived or associated numbers from another sheet are placed. Pale yellow boxes are for pulldown menus. Color is only used on the Calculations sheet, since it is not meant to be printed with the rest of the pages.

On the far right of the Calculations sheet is the list of all the Roles and their pertinent Core skills. At this time, these lists are placeholders and annotations for the purposes of this call for help. :D There is one skill that all Roles have as core, and that one is already bold on the skill list on the first sheet.

I hope that I am being clear; my personal verbosity is usually set to High by default. LOL

Much thanks for any help.
