Just received my USB of Open Office. I would like to get some hand holding help on installing the pgm. I'm not confident that I fully understand the instructions.

I suggest that you do not install anything from that USB. OpenOffice is available as a free download from http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html. Any other source might be ok but it might be a vehicle for malware. The download process from the link I provided will take you to a page at SourceForge but the download from there should start automatically, so there is no need to click on anything on that page.

Wow. Thanks for that download source, sounds like a perfect solution. I'll give it a try and post the results.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

I went to the link, downloaded OpenOffice and then double clicked on the pgm OpenOffice in applications and got this

“OpenOffice” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.

Using the answers in Q05 and its answer in the tutorial linked by MrProgrammer above worked and I can now open OpenOffice and use OpenOffice to open Word and Excel.

All is solved and OK
