Sharing a database file

Is it possible in Open Office to share a database file online with another user, and permit the other user to view and edit the file ?
If the status bar of your database reads like "Embedded HSQLDB" then no, this is impossible. This is not an online database. This is a local desktop database for a single user.
If the status bar of your database reads like "Server/Company_DB" then you would not ask.
