Post by Z1234 »

-Does OpenOffice Impress have a distinct, presentation viewing-only separate, smaller program equivalent to
PowerPoint Viewer?

Welcome to the Forums.
To the best of my knowledge what you are enquiring about does not, currently, exist.
Additionally, based on the progress rate on other problem/requests, I strongly suspect that one is not anywhere in the foreseeable future.
You might be better off going with a portable version of LibreOffice for something that, imo, seems similar to what you appear to be asking about.

-With this being the case, then is there a way to install Impress only from the total OpenOffice installer?

Technically yes, you just have to do a custom installation, but please note that there are files that are used through out the suite and those shared files will have to be installed even if you appear to never use them.
I can't find the file I made a while back, but it showed the amount of space used on a per application basis (Calc, Writer, Base, Impress, etc.) vs. the space used for the full installation.
If memory serves, even installing just one app by itself was not a significant space savings. Checking my current installation, which is the full installation, it only uses 330M (347,021,312 bytes). I honestly don't think you'll save much by installing just Impress.
