[Dropped] Fatal Error (central configuration issue)

Hello,

Had some strange error messages using OpenOffice saying that he couldn't open documents the mast time and asking whether to re-open them or not, probably the consequence of a system crash, and then it hangs. Rebooted, tried again, keeps coming back.
So decided to uninstall / reinstall Openoffice, and did a completely fresh install of 4.1.2 (tried 4.1.10 as well, same issue).
Openoffice still doesn't start, and throws following error message:

"openoffice 4.1.2 Fatal Error"
The application cannot be started.
A general error occurred while accessing your central configuration.

I did an upgrade of Java to the latest version. To no avail.

Any idea what I could do to get this solved ?
I suppose the uninstall i did (moving the icon to the trash), still leaves some stuff hanging around ...

Thanks
Pierre

In ten years I have not seen this message. Perhaps there is a problem with your MacOS account.
