Files like this appear in my system - what are they?
(also, how do I change the AOO number that appears above? I'm now using 4.1.8)

To change the 4.1.7 in your signature, access your User Control Panel (Slightly below top left of Forum window at bottom of uppermost blue bar), Press Profile Tab, select Edit Signature from the left bar and make any change you wish.

They are spreadsheet files so open them and find out.eleanorb wrote:Files like this appear in my system - what are they?
I suspect you have typed fred.ods for the filename when saving a spreadsheet not realising that AOO adds the .ods automatically getting fred.ods.ods.

These look like duplicate spreadsheet (Calc) files; I cannot say why they are named that way, other than to suppose they are generated by some form of automatic backup or recovery utility. But I am not a Mac expert, so that is merely speculation.

If such files are being generated regularly, then you need to review your method of working. You may be allowing the computer to sleep with an OpenOffice file open, or not allowing the few seconds needed for OpenOffice to write its file and housekeeping to the hard drive. There may be other causes.
