[Solved] OpenOffice 4.1.8 won't accept my JRE

Hi there, I'm new to dbase, but I followed your documentation and successfully created a fully working database with queries and reports. However, I just updated to OpenOffice 4.1.8 and now when I go to look at my database tables I get an error saying no Java installation can be found. I then updated to the latest version of Java and restarted my system, but when I go to Tools>Options>OpenOffice>Java it still will not accept the folder jre1.8.0-271. It says it doesn't contained a JRE. I don't have the technical knowledge to know what else to try, so until I have a solution I will have to go back to OpenOffice 4.1.7.

Welcome to the Forums.
For Windows, the JRE must be the 32 bit version. OpenOffice will not work with the 64 bit version in Windows.

Hi, Thank you. It is working now.
I got confused because:
1) The previous version of OpenOffice I had installed was working with the JRE I had on my system, so I didn't understand why the latest version of OpenOffice didn't work with the same JRE.
2) The latest 32-bit JRE was installed by default in C:\Program Files (x86), which I thought would be the location for the 64-bit version.
