Document will not open in email
i have a document in Open Office 4.1 format on Windows 10. if i send as an attachment on an email the recipient can't open it. what am i doing wrong ?

The recipient must install a compatible viewer or editor software. The newer versions of the MS Office can open the ODF file types, and the Apache OpenOffice and the LibreOffice are free for everyone as the PDF readers are free.
Or you can sent the document in PDF format - if not needed to edit it by the recipient.
Or you can use the libreOffice, what can save into OOXML file format, And it can embed the ODF file into a PDF document. In this case the hybride PDF readable with a PDF reader, but it is editable with the LO
