Lost all recent work I had entered on a book

Edit: Split from Settings reset when the computer crashes — MrProgrammer 2020-05-15 01:46 UTC
I just lost all recent work I had entered today on a book I am writing. Open Office crashed. I had saved a lot of what I entered, but it didn't appear when Office came back online. Is there anyway to retrieve what I lost?

Reason: New topic created, as this is a different problem than losing profile settings

Welcome to the Forums.
You could try the suggestions listed in this tutorial.
If nothing there works, then you could be out of luck or looking at having to get your system to a data restoration specialist, which, from my own researches, is expensive ($1,000+ CDN)
Hopefully you haven't used your system much as the more you use it the less likely you'll be able to retrieve the data.

If you believe your problem has been resolved, please go to your first post in this topic, click the Edit button and add [Solved] to the beginning of the Subject line.

It might be worth trying to open the file via File | Open if you haven't already tried that.
Slackware 15 (current) 64 bit
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16
LibreOffice 26.2.3.2; SlackBuild for 26.2.3 by Eric Hameleers

I hate this damn computer, I wish that I could sell it.
It won't do what I want it to, Only what I tell it.
