[Solved] Previewed documents looking unlike original

Post by Trivvy »

Good day!
I am new and need some help please.
I work on a Mac. When I view many of my Apache Open Office documents in the right hand side small view pane before I click on it to open it fully, the font is different to what I have chosen, for example it views in Times New Roman when I always use Trebuchet.
When I open the document itself it is fine - how I want it.
Also in the viewing panel many documents look like they were in their original draft form, like bullet points everywhere, mixed fonts, a real mess. Again, when I click on these documents to edit - they are fine.
Anyone know what I am talking about and I can resolve this? I don't like it!
Thank you.

Please upload some screenshot images about the two state of the application.

Note:
the file size limit is 128 Kib in this forum. Use 256 color lossless compressed .png images - or share the larger files in a free file sharing service, like the Google drive.

Do some quick tests. I think you will find the "small view pane image" is created the first time you save the document as the document then is. If you later edit the document the "small view pane image" is not updated to show the new document - it is still as it was.

Showing that a problem has been solved helps others searching so, if your problem is now solved, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Trivvy may be previewing the content with the Quick Look or the View → Show Preview facilities of Finder, the "file explorer" on a Mac. (I think Quick Look and Show Preview use the same display viewer.) If so, known issue Improve native QuickLook (for display formatting and support for templates) says OpenOffice won't be making any changes to that preview because Quick Look comes from Apple. Perhaps you can convince Apple to improve their preview. This is a user-to-user forum; there are no developers (OpenOffice or Apple) here. If you want the preview changed, any further action is up to you.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
