Pasting PNGs with transparency
Pasting PNGs with transparency
Why, when I paste a PNG containing transparent pixels from the clipboard into Writer, do the transparent pixels come out black???? (I use OpenOffice version 2.2)

Re: Pasting PNGs with transparency
If I'm not mistaken it is because the format on the Windows clipboard is a Device Independent Bitmap, not a transparent PNG. The colour will depend on the colour that was transparent in the original PNG.
To confirm this, in IrfanView, set the main window colour to yellow (or another colour), load a transparent PNG and the background will be yellow (or another colour). Copy and paste into any application and the background will be yellow (or another colour), not black.
To place transparent PNG images in OpenOffice, use Insert from file.
