[Solved] Problem with document saving

Post by burkybil »

I am running windows xp and I am having problems since updating to version 2.3.1 of oxygen office. I cannot save files and have open office be the default program to re open them. I always have to choose the program from a list, and the always use this program to open the file box is not available to check. Also, when I download from my email to my desktop it also does not save it as a default of one of the office programs (calc, writer etc) And people I send documents to cannot open my files. I never had this problem with Open office, or oxygen office when I originally downloaded. I believe it started when I tried to download updates. I have removed the software entireley multiple times and reinstalled with no luck. I also made sure the files were saving as open text. Any ideas?

Try to rename your OOo user profile (Documents and settings\<user>\Application data\OpenOffice.org2).

The "Automatic file name extension" option on the Save As dialog is probably turned off. Check the box to turn on the option the next time you save a file.
