Adding/removing/modifying a header via java

Hi all,
We are new to using OpenOffice and the are not able to solve the problem we are facing,
we have a doc file , we need to add/remove a header/footer to the existing doc file dynamically using java or any other programming language. Also we need to add an image in to the header (if we are able to add header dynamically).
Kindly suggest.
