I am very new to OpenOffice does anyone know how I may use my own graphics in a bulleted list? Is it even possible?
Thank you for all your help
Use your own Graphics as bullets
Re: Use your own Graphics as bullets
The pictures for the bullets are stored in ~openoffice.org\share\gallery\bullets. Perhaps simply adding the pictures you created to that folder would do the trick?

Yes. You need to become familiar with the Stylist (Styles and Formatting pane) and how to set up styles. I think you'll find the Writer Guide very useful in these respects. F11 opens the Stylist. Along the top you'll see a row of tools. Click the tool for Bullets and Numbering. The List styles are bulleted styles, and you can either modify these to have the graphics you want, or create new styles based on them.
First, open the Gallery (Tools> Gallery) and click the Bullets folder in the left pane. Your custom bullets should be in gif format for best performance; just drag and drop them into the Bullets preview pane. (I'm not sure how to do this using the keyboard only. There is no option in the context menu to add graphics, nor any button to click that I can see.
Now go back to the Stylist and right-click on the List 1 style, or whatever one you want to modify, click the Graphics tab and scroll down. It's probably at the bottom of the group. Select the bullet and click OK. It's now assigned to that list style.
I also wonder if there's a size restriction for a bullet graphic. I have some larger items in the Gallery, various coffee beans, pebbles and popcorn, but these are not available in the list style dialog. Hmm.
Anyway, please let us know if you run into any problems.
Cheers!

Are these larger items in the Bullets folder? Similar items and even larger items in my Bullets folder are all available in the Numbering Style dialog (OOo 2.3.1 on Windows Me).foxcole wrote:I also wonder if there's a size restriction for a bullet graphic. I was wrong. I need glasses, I guess, or a screen magnifier. They are there, after all. I wasn't looking closely and thought they were more of the round bullet colors.Bill wrote:Are these larger items in the Bullets folder?
