I just downloaded OpenOffice 2.3 and unpacked the file but can't seem to actually install the software. There are several icons, three of which are for installation. Two have the same icon and are called "instmsia" and "instmsiw"; when I double click on them, I get the message "Wrong OS or OS version for application." The third is called "openofficeorg23," and when I double click on that it opens, but the only options are to modify, repair or remove software, not to install it. I'm typically not a dummy when it comes to software installation--haven't had problems with other software in the past--but this is exceptionally user-unfriendly. I don't know what's wrong. I'm running Windows XP Home, with plenty of memory.
Can someone please help?

Re: Getting "Wrong OS" message while trying to install
That's because OOo is already installed it seems!jmillscon wrote:" The third is called "openofficeorg23," and when I double click on that it opens, but the only options are to modify, repair or remove software, not to install it.
OOo doesn't create shortcuts on the desktop, your running the installation files in fact. Start OOo from the Start menu. You can drag'n drop those shortcuts from the Start menu to the desktop (by right click).
Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

Thanks! That was the problem. I'm a Mac user still used to working for the desktop...totally forgot to go through Start!
