Mime type changed for *.sxw files

Post by cjagdish69 »

Sir/Madam,

I am using Openoffice 1.1 on RHEL WS 3.0 I have created 350-400 files in writer. I have inserted a cd and copied the content from that cd to my PC. After copying the content of that cd , all of sudden the icon for all the 350-400 files (i.e. *.sxw) are changed to swf (shock ware flash) format. The mime type of all these files is also showing to Macromedia Shockware Flash.

Now from the file manager if i am double clicking the file then the file is unable to open in openoffice writer. How can i change this to open in openoffice-writer ?

If I start the openoffice-writer first and then open these files from openoffice-writer then i am able to open the files and read/change the contents of the files.

I have tried to change the mime type by right clicking the file but i am unable.

Kindly suggest me the solution so that i can open these files by double clicking.

I suppose you copied files to some Win machine. In file manager right click on one .sxw file select properties, and on general tab click on Modify.., select OOo, and tick on selection box down side, to selection remain constant.
AOO 4.0 and LibO 4 on Win 8
