I have two templates that I use frequently. For one, the default autocorrect settings are fine and just as I want them. When I'm using the other one, though, I need to have different autocorrect settings - for example, I don't want it to replace dashes with long dashes, "..." with an ellipsis character, or mess around replacing custom quotes.
I was hoping that I would be able to set up each template, with autocorrect the way I want, then save the template, and then when I use that template I get those specific settings. However it doesn't seem to work that way - it looks like whichever way I set things, that's the way it's going to work regardless of the template I use. It's a bit of a pain because it means when I switch templates I have to remember to reset the autocorrect options.
Is there a way to set this? Or maybe there's an extension I can download that might help? Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a good solution?

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Yes, what you see is the expected behaviour. The AutoCorrect settings go with the OOo user, not the templates.
This article talks about setting AutoCorrect texts up as an extension. If you did that with two extensions, one for each set of AutoCorrect, then theoretically you could enable and disable the appropriate extensions so you get the AutoCorrects you want. It is based around OOo 2.0 but the principle should carry through. Extending OpenOffice.org: Creating template and AutoText extensions.

Right now, that's a bit more effort than I have time for but I've bookmarked the site and I may have a go at it when I get time. In the meantime, my original question is answered.
