Why no pictures when I open in MS Word?

When I create text documents, add jpegs, and save as a Word 97 file, the photos can't be viewed when I open the document at work using Word (Office 11). The photos appear normally when I re-open with Open Office at home. Why? What's the solution? Thanks.

Did you check print preview? Are images still absent in that mode?

Please read the Survival Guide to the forum (see the link in my sig line below). There isn't enough technical detail in your question for anyone to be able to say. Programs and computers are complicated! Any given problem could have many different solutions, so the details are important.

Aside from the OS version, OOo version, and Word version as requested in the Survival Guide, please be more specific about how you inserted the files and what anchor and wrap settings you used. Everything in OOo is based on styles, so the attributes you've used on the objects in question are crucial to identifying the problem. Otherwise you're just asking us to guess what's wrong.

The same thing happens to me when opening in Word 2000. I usually use Normal Mode, but Word doesn't show pictures in Normal Mode. Switching to the Print Layout Mode using View > Print Layout makes the pictures appear.
