Hi,

I think chapter 9 of the tutorial for OOo would in any case be helpful: http://www.tutorialsforopenoffice.org/c ... ssing.html

Maybe also this article helps: http://www.linux.com/articles/51448

I am not quite clear what you want to do exactly. Maybe you can explain in some more detail?

No. That would defeat the purpose of a master document. The whole idea is to be able to write each chapter as a separate file, to which there are a number of advantages.

What is your concern, exactly, about writing separate chapter files? Are you concerned about keeping the files organized? They will remain organized in the master document, and you can double-click them in the master document's Navigator view if you want to edit them, then update it in the master document's Navigator. Or do you have other concerns or questions?

The master document is an excellent way to protect page numbering, styles, and document stability for a book, so I would like to help you feel more comfortable with the concept if possible.
Cheers!

Hi Phil and Fox,

thank you for your valuable timely feedback. I will try to create documents as many as possible and link them to master document. i think this is the only option available.

I hope somebody will create a plug-in for writing a book.

and one more doubt. how to mark this post as solved ? :?

Once again thank you for your support.

A word of caution. If you decide to go with the master/subdocuments setup, be aware of the following bug:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=11174

This makes the master/subdocuments approach rather cumbersome if your book contains a lot of cross-referenced figures.

To mark you post [SOLVED], press the Edit button in upper right corner of your post and change the subject line.

Press the Edit button on your very FIRST post in this thread - that is the one from which the title of a thread is taken.

Good luck with the book.
