I can't change my Powerpoint because the trial is up so I have to enter a key. So I'm wondering how do I open up my presentation under Open Office? How do I convert my Powerpoint presentation?
Thanks for your help.

If it is a power point file (.ppt) and open office is set up to handle that extension, then you can just double-click the file and the Impress component should launch and open the file. If Open Office is not your default program to open this file extension, then simply open the Impress component, and from within that open the file.

Please, try the following steps:
menu:File>Open...
File type: Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 XML (*.pptm, *.pptx)
Browse your file
Button [Open]
What happens exactly?
If the document does not import correctly, then you may try an online converter, such as http://zamzar.com
This is exactly the kind of trouble Microsoft wants you to have. They crafted their new file formats summarized as "Office Open XML" in order to fight the successfully standardized, truely free, XML-based file formats of OpenOffice.org. Notice the similarity of the name.
