Please exit Open Office4.1.14 and Open Office 4.114 Quickstarter before continue. if you are using a multi-user system, also make sure that no other user has Open Office 4.1.14 open.
Message pops up when trying to install version 4.1.16 AND when trying to uninstall version 4.1.14
The soffice.bin process is not showing up because it has all been closed out. I even verified this by opening a doc to see it pop up in real time and then I closed the doc to see the process go away. There aren't any clear instructions on how to turn the quickstarter on or off in the program itself so I can't even try to toggle that setting.
All other topics labeled as successful even though those provide no information other than close the soffice.bin. Well that's not my issue.

Quickstarter error during install (v16) and uninstall (v14) attempts
OpenOffice 4.1.14 on Windows 11
Re: Quickstarter error during install (v16) and uninstall (v14) attempts
The Quickstarter is controlled through the menu selection Tools -> Options. After choosing that, expand the OpenOffice list on the left and select Memory. To prevent the Quickstarter from starting, remove the selection from Load OpenOffice During System Start-up. If you reboot the computer after making that change, there should be no Quickstarter process.

OpenOffice Help regarding Quickstarter (the "Memory" topic) is undoubtedly laconic. But surely you could have found more extensive information in the Getting Started Guide (https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Docume ... e_Chapters). See the "Starting Apache OpenOffice" in Chapter 1 of the Guide (pp. 13-14).Frustrated User_xXx wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2026 11:26 pm There aren't any clear instructions on how to turn the quickstarter on or off in the program itself so I can't even try to toggle that setting.
