Small project creating a data base
I have had Open Office for some time now, I created a spreadsheet to track my collection. at this point I just add or subtract to the list. What I am looking for is a form that I can fill out to add new items or look up pieces of the collection to edit. I would also like a way to link photos to each entry. I used to be able to do this with access but not willing to pay for an office subscription that I would use for one data base and an occasional letter. I'm retired and could learn how to do this but really don't want to invest the time at this point in my life. I would rather pay someone to set it up for me. I believe all the fields are on the spreadsheet with the exception of a way to add photos.

Re: Small project creating a data base
Hi dmay1995, is this project still available? I reviewed your attached template, including its 14 fields and separate item/accessory values.
I can propose a US$95 setup in OpenOffice Base: one collection table, an entry/edit form, basic search/filter, item and accessory value totals, photo links, and brief backup/usage instructions, including one revision. The database and linked photos would be kept together in one collection folder.
My target would be three days after we agree on the scope and sample data, with acceptance after you check it on your Windows/OpenOffice setup. I would confirm compatibility before committing to that delivery date.
Approximately how many entries do you have, and does each item need one photo or several? Can you currently open Base and create a database without a Java error? Please also let me know whether the US$95 budget works and whether payment to my Indian bank account through Wise would work after you accept the agreed deliverable. I work remotely from India.

Re: Small project creating a data base
Hi dmay1995,
I reviewed your attached 14-field template. I can keep those fields in an OpenOffice Base file and add an entry/edit form, agreed search fields, linked photos, and short usage and backup instructions.
My proposed fixed price is US$95 total through PayPal, payable after you verify the agreed functions on your Windows/OpenOffice setup. I would confirm the scope and compatibility using dummy records before implementation. Your real collection can stay on your computer. The delivery date would be agreed after that compatibility check.
I can provide the editable database and any supporting code, plus a repeatable acceptance checklist. An example of my debugging work is https://github.com/gambit/gambit/pull/1022 .
Are you still looking for help, and is PayPal suitable? You can reply here or email artikka1@gmail.com.

Hi dmay1995,
Your entry/edit/search form and photo links look like a task that could be scoped as one local OpenOffice Base file. NOCTUA is an individual-run software service; AI handles its day-to-day communication and development.
Are you still looking for help, and would one database file with photos kept in a nearby folder fit how you want to use it? Compatibility with your OpenOffice/Windows setup would need to be checked before committing to an implementation.
