LO 26.2.4.2 crashed on Windows 11

Post by Oskar4U »

Looks like the latest update for LO 26.2.4.2 has some problems because yesterday when I closed a document it said something like "....LO crashed and click to save..."

It happened 3 times with different documents. I plan to instal an older version, if I can, LO_25.2.0_Win_x86-64.

Is it a good idea?

Thanks

Reason: Edited topic's subject to add details; "LO crashed again" is vague

In the short term to keep working, sure.
But at some point, there will be some analysis needed. Any major bug would have been identified. Thus it may be a problem with your documents.
Does it occur for any document or just few of them?

Thank you Hagar for your time. I'm not a heavy LO user, it happened in one .calc and two .odt documents but not always. It asked to send crash report which I did, plus it asked to save my document before restarting LO. I'm sure the 26.2.4.2 update has something wrong, when I first got it about 1-2 months ago I let it install but then in about a week later I saw it again asking to be installed and I found it strange to have the same update installed twice. I should have canceled the second update.

Anything specific with those files? Like coming from MS Office files or shared with another application, or even coming from AOO but with complex formatting or formulas?
I saw that the 26.8 version was expected soon, it may fix the issue (but it could add new ones...).
Note that you can install an older portable version an then check what is wrong by deleting some parts of the document and checking if it opens fine with the new version. But it may take some time before you spot the issue.

Nothing specific with the files, they were created with LO and been using them for the last few years. For the time been I have not noticed any other problem. If it happens again I will then install an older version.

Many thanks again for your time
