[Solved] Open TMD documents from older office suite

I had an older version of Open Office Suite. It's documents end as .TMD - I downloaded the current version of Open Office of 4.1.16 - but it will not recognize TMD files.
HELP!!

Welcome. You used totally different software before. .TMD is a file format of TextMaker, developed by SoftMaker. See https://file-extensions.com/docs/tmd. You should get that.

omy gosh THANK YOU.
last summer when my laptop died and I got a new one - I couldn't load the program from the installation disc. A friend over seas recommended Apache OpenOffice and I like it. The format of a document looks just like the older TMD files. But I couldn't get them to open.
I've been going crazy - I'm a fledgling writer and no only do I have my works in TMD format - but other important stuff.
I just downloaded the soft maker suite and I can now get into my stuff.
I do like the Apace Office program as well. I will keep both programs.

thanks Zizi64 - I don't understand all the technical stuff in those articles you cited, but I did check them out.
So textmaker, open office suite, and Apache are sort of related, but not the same.
It also didn't help when the names of the programs are similar.

To be precise, Textmaker which is a word processing package is a completely separate program from Softmaker.

OpenOffice suite is an office suite containing a number of applications, including word processor and spreadsheet, and is one of many varying programs from the Apache Software Foundation.
