[Solved] Vector too long problem

Post by dthorne333 »

I am trying to link cells in one sheet of a spreadsheet to another sheet in the same file and keep getting the Vector too long error message and then my spread sheet crashes. Any thoughts

A vague memory that under some versions of Windows a file path might not be longer than 256 (255?) characters. But I haven't used Windows in years.

"Link cells"?
I suppose you mean ranges.
You should tell us how large these ranges are and by what means you tried to "link" to them if you get an issue with the size of a "vector"..
On Windows 10: LibreOffice 25.8.4 and older versions, PortableOpenOffice 4.1.7 and older, StarOffice 5.2

Please search first before posting. Lots of people have reported the problem, I think mostly on Windows systems. From memory, some people have solved the problem by creating a new spreadsheet and copying the sheets one by one from the old spreadsheet to the new one. Then they use the new spreadsheet and abandon the old one.
Search found 142 matches: vector too long

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit ✏️ button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
