Sort List conflict, a…z versus A…Z

Environment: OpenOffice Calc 4.13 on Linux (Kubuntu 24.04 LTS)
First, turn off Tools->Cell Contents->AutoInput
Second, create one sort list: 'a' through 'z'(lower case)
Third, create a second sort list: 'A' through 'Z'(All Caps)
Fourth, key in A through C in cells A1 through C1
Fifth, select A1:C1
Sixth, move the cursor to the bottom-right corner of C1 and drag to the right

Observe that the created values are lower case

Is this a bug I just have to live with or is there something I can do to get Calc to recognize case sensitivity?

Why do you need sort lists a-z and A-Z? Without the unnecessary list the drag duplicates column 1 exactly.

Note that Ctrl+Drag will achieve what you seem to require.

The elements of a custom sort list are treated as identifiers. The identifier status seems to override the data element status in some situations (perhaps whenever applicable; I didn't test extensively).
Identifiers in Calc are not case sensitive.
When two sort lists carry the same identifiers, the first matching list will be used. If you create the uppercase list first, you will find that the autofill results from dragging will be uppercase.

OK, but you can make them upper case with Format → Change case → UPPERCASE.

It's surprising that sort lists are not locale dependent, since the examples (days of the week and months of the year) certainly would be. However I can't see that Options dialog allows sort lists to be associated with a locale.

Thanks, that is an option, I guess I'll live with it.
