When I click on download, it says... will start soon but nothing happens.
When I click on "having problems" it just gives me different mirrors but they all do the same.
Computer is HP laptop running xp and there are no problems downloading into a newer Win 11 machine.
Any ideas?
Jack

Re: Can't download OO
Download the OpenOffice install file that you want for Windows XP to Windows 11. Copy the file from that PC to your Windows XP PC.JACK SCHMIDLING wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 5:40 pm Computer is HP laptop running xp and there are no problems downloading into a newer Win 11 machine.
If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit ✏️ button and add [Solved] to the start of the Subject field. Select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

Re: Can't download OO
Mr Progammer's advice is good: transfer the downloaded file to your troublesome computer and install it on that machine.
As XP has been long discontinued it is possible that you will have problems running a current version of OpenOffice on a Windows XP machine; it might be time to consider installing one of the lighter linux distros on it and a matching (linux version) of OpenOffice on it.

Re: Can't download OO
Don't see a solved button but it is sort of solved.
First of all, I did as suggested.... downloaded OO to win11 machine and loaded it into xp.
Loaded and ran just fine. Unfortunately, OO does not seem to recognize or want Works WDB files.
30 years of book reading (about 2000 books) are in a WDB file which is the only reason I still run a computer or 2 with XP.
I was hoping the OO would solve this problem so I keep looking.
In the meantime, I stumbled opon Libra Office and Voila! Problem gone. It runs on xp and 11 and likes WDB.
Thanks,
Jack
