Post by Bootyou »

Hello, I am mananaging NDIS for a person and I don't want Microsoft but lately since Jan 8 2025 NDIA are insisting on email attachments be created in Word DOCX none of my emails with apache open office saved in DOC format are reaching NDIA as they are blocking the attachments as they believe they are a security risk. Can this please be fixed.

LibreOffice can save in .docx format so you might want to think of switching to that. There are several good reasons for making the switch anyway, some of which are mentioned here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information
LibreOffice 25.8.1.1 (x64) installed to Windows 11 Pro. 25H2
Apache OpenOffice Portable 4.1.15 [Portable Apps]
For Java I use Adoptium Temurin JRE LTS Releases.

No, it can't be done in Apache OpenOffice. There are too few developers left to add export filters for docx, etc. Install LibreOffice instead, that can save in the docx format. You can have AOO and LibreOffice side by side on your computer.
Take care though. Remember that if you work with other software than your business partners, there may be compatibility problems.

As Microsoft Office can read .odt format, which is OpenOffice's native format, you might try that.

Thank you for this info I've installed it and sent a test attachment to see if NDIA can read the document.
