Alt button shows as ??? in Customize

I wanted to compare my current Spreadsheet.OTS file with a newly generated template. But when I created the new User profile the templates folder was empty, When I checked in the program folder of OpenOffice, the templates folder was empty there too. How do I generate new templates?
Well I figured out how to generate a new template, but in Customize, the new template still shows the Alt button as question marks (???). How do I fix this? Is it something in the keyboard layout settings that is interfering with AOO?
Running 4.1.14 on Linux Mint 21.3.
