Having much trouble with a document I just created in Libre Office (on MacBook ... because I cannot find and install Open Office there).
I'd like to open it in OO, on my iMac, but it drags and drags, not opening.
Q #1: If there an OO version for MacBook (Air in this case)?
Q #2: How can I update Libre -- as it requests -- without opening the just-written document? Of can I?
I thank the ghost in the machine every time I use OO for freeing me from the Microsoft Monster. Hope this little glitch can be worked out too.

Re: Open Office vs Libre Office
First try rebooting your Mac. If that doesn't help, a new user profile has corrected many mysterious problems. Resetting your profile is more likely to be successful in fixing your problem than reinstalling OpenOffice.
Q02: How do I create a new OpenOffice user profile on a Mac?
If you installed LibreOffice, its user profile is separate from OpenOffice's, so it is using a new LibreOffice user profile. The OpenOffice and LibreOffice user profiles are separate. Installing LibreOffice or LibreOffice does not touch any user profile.
The Guest User account always receives a new user profile. You can check to see if your drags and drags problem occurs there.
Q28: How do I use the Guest User account to run a test?
Any recent version for OS X > 10.7 should run on your Mac (Mavericks 10.9.2).
Q03: How do I install OpenOffice on a Mac?

Re: OpenOffice vs LibreOffice
The LibreOffice uses a newer version of the ODF standard by default.I just created in Libre Office (on MacBook ... because I cannot find and install Open Office there).

You can choose an obsolete, older ODF file format for the usage with obsolete Apache OpenOffice versions.
The image was created with my LO 7.5.8. The newest LO versions uses the ODF 1.4 version by default.
