[Solved] Paste special option doesn't appear
[Solved] Paste special option doesn't appear
Paste Special option only shows up once when using ctrl v. When I first open spreadsheet, it works. A second attempt in a different field and it does not appear. But, if I close the spreadsheet and reopen, then it appears again.

Re: Paste special option
I don't use Windows and don't know how Paste in OpenOffice works there. Using OpenOffice 4.1.7 on MacOS, Command+V (the MacOS equivalent of Ctrl+V) simply pastes the data. I never get an option to use Paste Special instead. If I want to perform Paste Special I use menu Edit → Paste Special or keyboard shortcut Command+Shift+V. For Windows, I believe the corresponding Paste Special shortcut would be Ctrl+Shift+V.
The Paste and Paste Special features use the clipboard content. The ability to use Paste or Paste Special depends on that content. If there is nothing on the clipboard that these feaures can use, they will not be available. You must ensure that the clipboard has appropriate data before you can use Paste Special.
Numerous other posts on the forum have reported problems when people install a Clipboard manager application on their computer. Some of these applications are known to interfere with OpenOffice. In those situations people either remove the incompatible application or find a different clipboard manager application which works better with OpenOffice. A search will find those topics for you if you want to investigate further. I do not use any Clipboard manager application myself and cannot help with any Windows applications except to suggest that you search for topics about them.
