[Dropped] Desktop icon for OpenOffice
[Dropped] Desktop icon for OpenOffice
It would be nice if Open Office put an icon on my desktop, so I could open it without going to downloads and downloading /installing the program every time I use it. Also, it would be nice if the menu bar provided an operable means of getting a white background instead of the black. This used to be a good program. What happened?

Re: What Happened to Open Office?
Hi and welcome to the forum!
The standard procedure does put an icon on the desktop IIRC. Are you sure it's not there? You can add it too if needed.
OpenOffice has been lacking dev manpower for years, you may find LibreOffice more interesting: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information.
Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the ✎ button if your issue has been fixed.

LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
Re: What Happened to OpenOffice?
The version (3.1) shown by the signature of @Rosco is VERY old, and there will be few people in the world who can tell if/how it works after system updates till Windows 11.
There were no updates to OO.o for more than a decade now, and the AOO branch of the successors has reached V 4.1.15.
Much more developed has the other branch (LibreOffice).

On Windows 10: LibreOffice 25.2.4 and older versions, PortableOpenOffice 4.1.7 and older, StarOffice 5.2
