Hello
I have obtained OO 2.3 on CDs from an Australian source and have installed basic OO on my XP Home laptop but I am at a loss what to do with the contents of the Extras (clipart, templates etc) CD. I can find no instructions how to install these. I have been in and out of web sites, documents etc etc without success (I can see where SOME things PROBABLY should go).
I had the same experience several years ago with an earlier OO and gave up in disgust and did without. (the supplier is Lankum.com who provides no support)
Can you help, please?

Installing "Extras" In Windows xP
Re: Installing "Extras" In Windows xP
It seems that you make life hard for yourself. You can keep templates, graphics and anything else anywhere on your hard disk. The only thing to think about is that you remember where you stored it. I wouldn't put them in the OOo folders, because OOo has a tendency to remove itself at every new install. So, instead make your own customooo folder with child folders for graphics, templates and whatever else comes with it. Hope that helps.

Re: Installing "Extras" In Windows xP
I'd like to add two things to what floris said about putting your clipart and templates anywhere you want on your hard disk. After that, you can tell OOo where to find them so they are listed in the gallery (for clipart) or the templates folder.
If the clipart and/or templates were provided packaged into "extensions" (*.oxt), use Tools > Extension Manager to "enable" the extensions.
If the clipart and/or templates are individual files, do this:
1) Optionally add a new theme to the Gallery and add the clipart files to it. Details in Chapter 14, "Working with the Gallery" in the Getting Started book.
2) For templates, choose File > Templates > Organize, optionally add a new templates folder, then import the templates into it. Details in Chapter 12, "Working with Templates" in the Getting Started book.
If the Getting Started book was not included on the CD you got, a free PDF (complete or as individual chapters) can be downloaded from the link in my signature.
