[Issue] Wipe effect on Bezier Curve

Post by poporacer »

I want to have a line to appear as if it being drawn from one picture to another. In other programs, I could use a Wipe On effect from right to left and set the timing for the speed, but in Impress they do not work as expected. If you put a duration on the Wipe effect, it treats it as a Delay and will not show the curve for that amount of time. It just appears.
Maybe I am using the wrong tools?
How can I get a line to appear as it is being "drawn" on the screen?

I managed to get it work with the file attached above but by setting the delay to 0.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the button if your issue has been fixed.

That didn't work for me, the line still just displayed, it didn't "draw" the line. Here is what I see, are you seeing something different?

Indeed, under Windows (10 for me), the result is very different from Linux Mint.
It draws the line, then waits the duration time to display the text 2 and then draws the line again (by displaying first the tip of the arrow only, then the line). Very strange. Can't upload the video.

What I see (viewing the "appear.odp" presentation submitted by F3K Total):
In presentation mode if you wait for timed delay, the next object appears in a swipe, as confgured.
If you click, it seems to override all delays and object timings for the current slide. The rest appears all at once, like your video shows.

I noticed that the way it displays on Windows 11 depends on the specific version of LibreOffice 24.8.
An .odp file made with 24.2.7.2 :
  • incorrect animation in 24.8.0.1 — 24.8.2.1 ("preSCHLE.gif")
  • correct animation — in 24.2.7.2 and as of 24.8.3.1 ("preGU.gif")
Can anyone confirm?

I do not get the swipe effect if I wait for the timed delay. It just appears.

Very good catch!

Here is my Windows version, for which I see the preSCHLE behavior.
Version: 24.8.2.1 (x86) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 0f794b6e29741098670a3b95d60478a65d05ef13
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (10.0 build 19045); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win

Weird thing is I think that I use the 24.8.2.1 version too on my LMDE machine, to be checked later today.
